Woodward  ProTech® 203 超速保护系统通过监测三路独立的磁阻发讯器（MPU）来的信号，为蒸汽轮机、燃气轮机或其它原动机提供超速保护。特别是对于高转速（>10, 000 rpm）时机械超速保护装置已变得不可靠的情况下，可使用ProTech 203 替代。
Woodward  ProTech 203 也能用作保护和安全系统中的一个部件，以允许总体系统达到IEC62508 SIL-3等级或符合API-670标准。
